Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. In her early Broadway roles, she played in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The actress was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured actor in the Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has worked in projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers throughout her career. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres on November 22nd. Ashford's current film is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will be available on Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. In March of 2023 Ashford returns to Broadway and play alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who produced Hamilton, will direct the show. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters in the first impeachment proceeding in America in over a century. For two seasons, she played a prominent role in CBS's hit series B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in her character of Essie. Other Broadway performances for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded an Tony Award nomination. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver & raised there.
